The Thespians: Acts I-IV

The Thespians, Acts I - IV focuses on, and responds to, the context of the area in which I live, and how my queerness exists in these spaces in a performative way. In each of the works, I don absurd and extravagant costumes which I designed and created, that symbolise the personas I construct in order to feel validated within my sexuality, in both a social and physical context. The areas I occupy and the people I interact with view my queer identity in a different way to how I intrinsically view it. So, to reflect and exaggerate this, my intention was to create an “outside looking in” composition, one that portrays me as a performer on a stage being watched, putting on an extraordinary character for the world to see; yet, the stage I perform on is my everyday life.
